I synthesized new plastic scintillators with a variety of uses including nuclear non-proliferation applications.The research team I worked with was the first to successfully demonstrate useful gamma ray spectroscopy from a plastic scintillator. Before our work it was generally believed that plastics were not capable of gamma spectroscopy and our innovation.

I synthesize and characterize thiophene based dendrimers and polymers for use in organic solar cells. I was in the organic photovoltaics group, part of the national center for photovoltaics, working under David Ginley.In addition I was a coauthor on two widely cited papers on the photodegradation of P3HT/PCBM films and on ultrasonic spray-coating of OPV.
