I am an ambitious information paraprofessional, currently a Library Assistant at the University of the Arts London and have recently completed an MA in Library and Information Studies at University College London. I have long harboured an interest in working within the information sector and began volunteering at my then local public library in Streatham, South London in 2016. After acquiring the basic knowledge and skills to run a day-to-day information service, I soon graduated to my first paid library position as a Library Assistant at King’s College London on a fixed term contract. Whilst at King’s I gained first-hand experience of academic librarianship, in the process confirming the avenue I wanted to take in my long-term career. On completing my contract at KCL I took on a permanent, full time role at the Fashion Retail Academy, again as a Library Assistant. In January 2019 I moved to the University of the Arts London, first at the London College of Communication, and since March 2021 at Central Saint Martins. My academic background is in English Literature and Philosophy, subjects which I read at the University of the West of England between 2009 and 2012. I gained a 2:1 BA (Hons) in my time at UWE, with my final year dissertation, concerning the dystopian literature of the 20th Century, earning a first. I have recently completed an MA in Library and Information Studies at University College London, earning a 2:1.
