By implementing a novel visual animation approach based on circles (not unlike Google+ circles), he was able to convey complex operational processes in a simple manner to the client. Ben delivered all requirements on time and above expectation, leading to follow on work from the MoD.

During this internship, Ben worked as part of the LCA team looking into engine parts risk reviews for the Trent XWB engine. Ben analyzed the historical performance of the CRIC (Combustion Rear Inner Casing) and HP & IP Turbine cases. He aggregated the data and presented at multidisciplinary risk review meetings concerning those parts.Moreover, Ben researched semantic web search engines to improve the KBE (knowledge-based engineering) processes at Rolls-Royce.
