About Benjamin Shockley

I am part project manager, part geek, part engineer, and at all times...★I am an explorer.★I love to tinker. I love to research. I love to learn.I'm a seasoned engineer in the aerospace industry for over 19 years, and I've done some amazing things and helped create some of the world's best aircraft. I've been very lucky to work with some of the best teammates and peers. I'm a graduate of a leadership development program at Boeing designed to develop the top 1% of high potential leaders within the company.I love all things that beep, blink, buzz, or otherwise have electrons coursing through it's system. I had a Radio Shack Robie Jr. growing up and it was the neatest toy. It sparked my imagination of what was possible, of what I wanted to learn, and see, and do.• My best skill is the ability to learn something quickly. Seriously. Fast.• I can program websites using nothing but a basic text editor in HTML, CSS, and Javascript. However, it's usually better with an IDE.• I once taught myself enough Python to be dangerous on accident, but have since learned to be more careful.• I have a master’s degree in aerospace engineering. So, I’m really good at designing things at are super lightweight, but cost 10x what they should.• I have a private pilot’s license and can do some wicked awesome clearing turns.• I once setup my own Apache web server with PHP and MySQL for fun. This was before it came in nice WAMP packages. Kids these days are lazy.• I can crash a radio control airplane like no body else. I'm talking spectacular displays or destruction.• I can drive a manual car. Come on - not too many US citizens can make that claim any more.• I used to play the flute, tuba, and almost any percussion instrument known to man. Oh, and I could play those instruments while marching with a hundred other people.• I have some of the best vacation planning skills this side of the Mississippi. Ask my wife.• I am the best Nertz player in my family.
