Fern was a service that provided in home elder-care through robots operated by professional caregivers.

Creating algorithms and systems at the intersection of product, research, and UX.I designed and built several-end-to-end systems around novel deep networks that enabled some core functionality you would expect from a mixed reality device.

- Added a critical system to the Magic Leap perception stack. I designed both the UX and the algorithm, integrating it into the complex real-time perception system, and created several end-to-end demonstration applications. - Started a project in my spare time that became a core feature and a team. I designed the feature - both software architecture and interaction design, and led the team to build v0 of the feature. - Collaborated with the BD team to survey the AR space and develop several go-to-market proposals.- Created the initial UX design for one of the core ML apps that will be released as part of the product.

I made tractor beams: creating the design, model, and controller for an electromagnetic actuator for space robots.• Developed simulation framework and visualizer for electromagnetic spacecraft actuators.• Built fast algorithms to calculate eddy-current forces for dynamic actuation.• Mentored several masters projects and senior projects.• Rebuilt lab website for modernity and mobile friendliness.

• Designed and fabricated a prototype robotic inspector to demonstrate new actuators.• Demonstrated actuator operation on a low-friction air table.• Updated a visual tracking system to include wireless hardware-in-the-loop control.

Controls engineer building a room-sized 6-DOF microgravity simulator• Designed and implemented controller that translated force inputs toaccurate zero-g dynamics• Implemented a learning algorithm to run automated tests that adjusted thesystem model and tuned gains

• Created and simulated new control algorithms for an induction-based spacecraft actuator.• Designed and built experiment to characterize eddy-current forces for actuation.

- Ensured that food was successfully served.- Organized regular theme nights, including "Tonight we dine in Hell" and "Pirates"

Advised several design projects and successfully ensured nobody lost any fingers.

• Built a photovoltaic rig for powering aquatic robots. Tested the rig in a fish tank and the open ocean.• Built a model of windflow over large buildings from experimental data.• Ran thermal tests on UAV components.
