Ultra high-molecular weight (≥150kb) DNA is prepared from samples, molecules are labeled with motif-specific fluorophores, then are imaged, digitized, and assembled into maps. The Saphyr workflow enables Structural Variant (SV) and Copy Number analyses for both germline and somatic variants, as well as variant annotation and query against a controls SV database. De Novo assembled maps are further useful for hybrid scaffolding NGS data— which greatly improves genome assembly and contiguity.See more: http://bionanogenomics.com/My role spans tissue prep to bioinformatic analysis while entailing customer facing and outreach. I consult on a variety of research with collaborators in the field. I perform training sessions, troubleshoot tricky experiments, and reveal the true structure in genomes.
