Environmental Assessment Policy• With the enactment of the Federal Impact Assessment Act (IAA)(2019), enhanced the coordination of ECCC expert and technical contributions to EA and Impact Assessment (IA) project reviews through the development of the EA Practitioner’s Manual, a how-to guide that contains national operational guidance material for ECCC’s EA Program.• Conducted a thorough review of the 5-year-post-enactment implementation of the IAA with the goal of strengthening the IAA policy implementation within ECCC by refining processes, addressing gaps, and optimizing alignment with organizational mandate and legislated-industry standards, thereby enhancing overall departmental operations and ensuring legislative compliance.• Led the comprehensive review of permitting, authorization, and Impact Assessment processes within ECCC's mandate, streamlining procedures to expedite the approval of clean growth projects vital to Canada's low-carbon transition. By optimizing the federal regulatory pathway, facilitated expedient market access, maximizing financial investment, and capitalizing on tax incentives for sustainable development initiatives.Trans Mountain Expansion (TMX) Secretariat • Established collaborative relationship building with Indigenous representatives as the ECCC representative on the Indigenous Advisory Monitoring Committee (IAMC), Marine Shipping Subcommittee (MSSC), fostering meaningful dialogue, cultural sensitivity, and mutual respect to ensure Indigenous perspectives were effectively integrated into decision-making and the monitoring of the TMX pipeline.
