The future is connected. Connections mean access to information. All of the information you want, whenever you need it, no matter what else is happening. I am leading a team of visionaries, innovators, and world class engineers to help imagine this future. Senior Solutions Architect

Redmond, Wa, Us

I currently work at Kymeta, a company building revolutionary flat panel, software defined, metamaterials-based electronic scanning antennas for satellite communications. My role here is to define how satellite networks can converge with terrestrial networks so that a single communications ecosystem can be realized. Imagine a day where you don’t have to choose between satellite or cellular. Better yet, imagine a day where you never have to worry about losing network coverage. You, personally, are simply connected…no matter where you are.I’m building that. About Kymeta - Kymeta has been recognized with a 2017 Fast Company World’s Most Innovative Companies in Space award and the 2017 Puget Sound Business Journal Innovation Award for Technology. Kymeta has also been awarded the 2016 Seattle Business Silver Tech Impact Award for Emerging Technology and the 2016 2b AHEAD Innovators Award, which was closely preceded by the Frost & Sullivan 2016 New Product Innovation Award. Kymeta has also been recognized as a CNBC Disruptor for two consecutive years, a FiReStarter by Strategic News Network and a top 50 MIT Technology Review Disruptive Company.

Dec 2017 - Dec 2018

Senior Researcher

Gaithersburg, Md, Us

I am currently engaged in research and strategy development for emerging public safety communications technology. I am the principle investigator for the next generation of highly mobile deployed networks specifically designed to support public safety wireless networks. I am taking the traditional concept of the centralized 4th Generation Long Term Evolution (4G LTE) and fully decentralizing that so that individual networks can be as ubiquitous as the apparatus that first responders use in the field. This involves integrating very small form factor LTE cores with small form factor radio access networks (RAN) to provide an incident area network that moves with the incident. In addition, I am researching ways of tying many of these networks together in a robust, reliable, ad hoc, and self healing manner so that single networks can dynamically become larger and more complex networks. Finally, I'm implementing edge computing techniques leveraged from emerging technologies within the Internet of Things (IoT) space so that data collected at the edge can stay at the edge, and there is a reduced dependance on large-scale backhaul to cloud-based services.Additionally, as these networks are highly mobile, I am a licensed sUAS operator and maintain a fleet of heavy-lift sUAS to fly LTE networks. The future of highly mobile deployable networks is exciting, and I'm helping to define it.

Feb 2016 - Dec 2017

Advanced Projects Chief Engineer

Falls Church, Va, Us

In this role, I supervised and provided hands-on strategy expertise to the engineering team responsible for developing designs, concepts, and technology for future business pursuits.Several key projects include:The Advanced Airborne 4th Generation Long Term Evolution research program. Here, I was responsible as Lead Researcher to develop LTE architecture, involving groups of multiple small form factor unmanned aerial systems to provide rapidly deployable, robust, and high capacity LTE network to challenged environments. I Conducted studies to determine the limits and feasibility of integrating commercial LTE systems on various types of airborne platforms. This ultimately impacted business unit strategy regarding entry into the public safety market and the use of 4G LTE systems in tactical communications networks. The Stratospheric Communication Node research and development project. Developed solutions as Chief Engineer for highly complex air and ground communications network, primarily based out of constellations of stratospheric balloons. This research culminated with the launch and flight of a 1500 kg payload attached to a 1.2 million cubic foot balloon. The mission flew to over 70,000 feet and performed communications relay functionality which demonstrated the feasibility of a very large lighter-than-air vehicle performing a communications re-establishment function. The Surrogate Satellites program. On this project, I was the Chief Engineer and Program Manager tasked with developed a surrogate satellite capability. A concept which replacing traditional communication satellite capabilities by utilizing high altitude aircraft rather than satellites. Flight testing this with live military systems revealed far greater results and reliability over traditional satellites.
