The nonprofit Mile in My Shoes (MiMS) was founded in 2014 to bring together residents of Minneapolis from diverse backgrounds through the power of running. Based in homeless shelters and transitional housing, MiMS builds community, champions health and wellness, and inspires leadership among its resident members and volunteer run mentors. I write, edit, and help plan all manner of communications and development projects (brochures, email blasts, website content, grants, etc.) for a range of clients, with a focus in the nonprofit world. I love helping organizations tell great stories to rally the community, whether they are fundraising, seeking grants, recruiting volunteers, or simply spreading the word to inspire. I managed the Ed Fund's Communications and Outreach work, which entailed planning and writing all outreach pieces (print, email, web, social media) for both the organization and for 30+ public schools in the Oakland Unified School District. I also wrote grant proposals and reports for the Ed Fund and for individual schools.
