My first role at PeopleAdmin was as a member of the homogenous development team, in which I developed and maintained the PeopleAdmin 7 SaaS product, which is used by higher education and government customers for position management. The application has several layers of abstraction to support a wide variety of customer requirements, and is deployed using Amazon and Rackspace cloud products.Following the rapid expansion of PeopleAdmin in 2011, we split the development team into three departments. I led the 5-person Customer Operations team, which is responsible for biweekly maintenance releases of our product. I was the only developer on the team. Technologies in use include Rails, SQS, S3, Redis, Memcached, Sphinx, and Resque.

Crossroads makes data assurance appliances for server-room applications. I designed, developed and tested the administrative user interfaces for these machines in Ruby on Rails. I also worked on the lower-level Ruby code that drives the devices: tape drives, RAID arrays, etc. This is a large and complex Rails-based project, with a couple dozen developers, and supporting three separate products from a common UI core.
