Guardian is a 501c3 non-profit dedicated to providing every child in the world the opportunity to train martial arts, regardless of financial limitations. Guardian focusing primarily on Brazilian Jiu Jitsu and Boxing to make an impact on students in the areas of self-defense, confidence, and community for youth. Guardian opened up its flagship academy in downtown Oakland in January 2016, and after just 12 months of operation serves over 130 youth students and 100 adults. The gym and programs are completely free for Oakland youth ages 10-18, and is funded by adult memberships and donations. In November 2016, Guardian launched a national scholarship, allowing youth from anywhere in the U.S. or Canada the opporutnity to be placed into a local program for jiu jitsu or boxing.
