In or out of the courtroom, my ability to share a compelling story is what I use to connect with and deliver results for my legal clients. Before law school I was a television news anchor and reporter with CBS and FOX affiliates in Michigan and worked with a South African national news network in Cape Town and Johannesburg. At Haller Kwan LLP, I represent employees who have been treated illegally in the workplace. My empathy for workers was nurtured from an early age. My father is an immigrant from China. He arrived with the proverbial ‘nothing but the clothes on his back.’ To him, work was the only path to a better life and – quite frankly – dignity. To this day, my father serves as a role model for my advocacy. I work hard to put my clients first, and at ease. To me, it’s personal. Spending extra time to ensure a client understands the legal process, making the additional phone call or sending the detailed email, are all part my commitment to help my clients reclaim their dignity and move forward with their lives.I teach as an adjunct lecturer at UST Law in Minneapolis. I served as President on the Executive Board of the Minnesota Asian Pacific American Bar Association in 2016-2017, and maintain close ties to the Twin Cities media community socially and have contributed as a columnist for Minnesota Lawyer. Until May 2020, you could have found me slinging chop suey at my family’s Chinese restaurant in Eden Prairie—but now that dad's retired, you'll have to inquire about an invite to one of our at-home family-style feasts.
