Project Description:In honor of its 50th anniversary, the Chicago Architecture Foundation is commissioning a “reimagining” of the 1911 Wacker Manual as a graphic novel for the next generation of “urban planners.” The graphic novel being commissioned will serve as a civic engagement primer for Chicago’s next generation of planners. In tandem with the development of the novel, CAF has been working with Chicago Public Schools and other community stakeholders to develop a detailed set of themes and issues and a companion guide to support teachers’ use of the novel with students to support civics education.Duties:• Served as an urban planning subject matter expert for the project.• Helped guide the educational objectives and story structure of the graphic novel and its accompanying curriculum.• Assisted in the search and selection of a graphic novelist.
