To whomever is reading this, hello! If we’ve met then you probably know some of this already. If we haven’t, please read through the following and shoot me any questions or comments you have after that! I am currently enrolled at the Milwaukee School of Engineering studying for a BS in User Experience (UX) Engineering. I took some PLTW courses in high school and have wanted to do engineering since then. I started by joining MSOE as a Mechanical Engineering student. I found my passion in design work and further cemented that with my experience at FPI last summer doing CAD work for them. I hope to use UX as a way to improve the world around me through design.I worked in the automotive industry as a technician for 3 years after high school while attending some general studies classes at my local community college. This has taught me to have a very technical mindset and organized approach to problem solving. Skills I often market myself having are:The knowledge of using 3d printers. Graphic design and solid modeling. Very skilled at coming up with creative designs using software such as Photoshop, Autodesk Inventor/Fusion360, SolidWorks, and Onshape. Mechanical aptitude. I understand how to take apart and reassemble machinery, electronics, etc. This also requires great levels of precision work, organization, and understanding of immediate surroundings.Problem solving. Whether I know the answer to a problem at hand or not, finding a response that answers that question is important to me. Not only this, but keeping track of what I have already tried versus what options are left is something I leverage to decide how well my current approach at solving the issue is going.Marketing/good social skills. These are two sides of the same coin for me. I have had experience selling product both for work and for personal side work. Both require being able to present a product in a way that makes it seem unique even if it does not initially seem so. If it is obviously unique, that helps as it becomes a main selling point and gives an advantage to your business. Knowing how to talk to people and empathize allows you to create conversations about the product rather than just a pitch.
