Director of Bar Pass Initiatives for several years, during which Regent Law has achieved the highest Bar pass rate in its history.Before entering law teaching, he was a partner at Hunton & Williams (now Hunton, Andrews & Kuerth) on its litigation team. Handled a wide variety of commercial litigation, ranging from defense of manufacturers in products liability suits, defense of utilities, and defense of companies in other highly litigated commercial matters, to bringing suits for infringement of intellectual property rights, breach of franchise and other agreements, the assertion of property rights, and the like. As he progressed to being a senior associate, took on more supervisory responsibility for training new lawyers. Ran the firm's summer associate program in my office for more than one year. Became president of the Tidewater Chapter of the Federal Bar Association and joined the local Inn of Court. Regularly prepared materials for and presented Continuing Legal Education seminars. Recognized by the firm for extraordinary pro bono service.Since joining Regent Law School, he has taught Civil Procedure, Virginia Procedure, Appellate Advocacy, and Foundations of Practice. Has published two books and numerous articles on civil procedure. Also published widely on professional identity formation., as well as best practices in teaching. Presented scholarly articles at conferences of the American Bar Association, American Association of Law Schools, Southeastern Association of Law Schools, the Institute for the Advancement of the American Legal System, and other organizations.
