I graduated with an MBA from Duke University. Studying at the Fuqua School of Business changed how I perceive and work on challenging problems and influenced me to be a people-centered leader. Embarking on my professional journey, I worked in academia as a Learning and Development Manager, managing a large team of instructors who trained new volunteers. I interviewed, hired, trained, and built a team of 44. My efforts there culminated 7,500 trained volunteers with a 98% success rate.After falling in love with HR and tiring of the slowness of academia, I moved to a fast-paced start-up as the first HR hire for American Healthcare Lending. My plate was full with growing the team and establishing processes for onboarding, training, compensation, and recruiting in preparation for a merger with the elephant in the peer to peer lending industry, Prosper Marketplace. After learning a ton about how to be a HR guy, I dove into two bigger companies. With Amazon, I led the recruiting efforts for several business groups in World Wide Operations and became an expert in recruiting tough to hire technical positions. Learning the Amazon way has influenced my passion for using data to solve problems and solving those problems at scale. Next, I was charged at Wayfair to work with the CFO and CPO on their people strategies. This is where I created a unique team of 30 employees who crushed everything placed before us. Navigating the Covid era was challenging and the needs of the business changed rapidly but the demands of the business were met and the results spoke for themselves. Currently, I was asked to be on the executive team of a growing tech start up called BetterVet, the leader in mobile veterinary care built on a unique tech platform. Bringing my expertise in HR to support the company’s growth in revenue, employee count, and strategic vision. I partner with business leaders to establish growth strategies and ensure objectives are met and value has been created. Building from scratch has been a theme here.
