In my experience working in the field as a civil engineering intern, I have had the pleasure of developing my professional skills under many respectable and knowledgeable engineering professionals. I have become proficient in AutoCAD and have enjoyed my time drafting and designing in the civil design industry. Some of my favorite work to date has been grading plans and compiling cut and fill reports, sizing drainage features using a combination of AutoCAD and HydroCAD, and designing site layouts and features. In addition to traditional civil engineering work, I am always open to exploring new experiences and skills. In my first internship, I spent many days in the field surveying under licensed surveyors at many different job sites. In addition to traditional surveying, I also spent time in my second internship conducting informal drone surveys to use for presentations and CAD work for specific projects. I have spent many hours permitting projects for stormwater reports, notice of intents, notifications to abutters, and more. In my time working with professionals in the field I have thoroughly enjoyed using Hydro CAD to compile drainage data and reports to be used in these permitting reports. I also enjoy using other applications such as InDesign, illustrator, and photoshop. In my second internship, I worked closely with professional engineers as well as landscape architects and I began to explore the realm of landscape design as well as engineering. I feel that this has broadened my knowledge and developed me into a more well-rounded professional. As my final semester at UMass Amherst begins to come to an end, I have taken and passed the Fundamental Engineering exam and will be a certified engineer in training following graduation in May 2023. I am excited to continue my engineering journey and cannot wait to see what the future holds!
