In this role I regularly acted as the National Manager Emergency Management when the substantive was away. Key Achievements:- Initiated and developed the Ministry's rapid deployment and Emergency Hub models and developed and ran the inaugural Emergency Welfare Unit training course. Responsible for managing the emergency reserve national capability, and the Emergency Rescue Unit, for the Emergency Management and Business Continuity Group - Managed initial responses to Christchurch (incl. deployment to Chch) and Canterbury earthquakes (MSD's EOC). Core contributor to the writing of the psychosocial strategy (acute and long term).- Developed the psychosocial and welfare communications strategy for the NZ response to the Samoan Tsunami in Sept 2009 - Developed the Crisis Management Plan for the Ministry of Social Development for a serious disaster or catastrophic scenario.
