About Bennett Black

Prior to joining the US military I had an interest in cyber security from a young age. I spent all of time in middle school and high school focusing on reading and learning C programming. During that time I also pursued a number of projects to further my understanding of the field. At 18, in 2013, I joined the military to serve my country. Over the past 12 years I have done by best to keep up with trends in the cyber security field and have slowly continued to build on my knowledge. What I bring to the table are a number of hard and soft skills I have built due to my job, as well as to maintaining interest in the cyber security field since 13 years old. Outside of my current job, I've developed experience in Python; x86 assembly; a core understanding of how various operating systems function from a low-level up; networking fundimentals; working in Linux command-line evironments; use of SIEM tools; implementation of information gathering, privledge escalation, and binary analysis processes. From my current role I have learned basic circuit analysis; time-critical decision making abilities; the capability to work through unique problems; and the ability when all else fails to quickly learn, implement, and build-on new concepts.I look forward to separating from the military mid-2025 so I can further apply my skills and work ethic in a new direction.
