After a 20-year successful career in corporate IT, working around the world, I wanted to work with people rather than machines. Over the following years I created various in-person and online retreats and workshops, and launched a presentation skills course called 'Fall in Love with Presenting.'In 2018 I joined the Sanlam Data and Digital Academy (SDDA) (a very successful graduate programme where we train fresh-out-of-varsity grads to become data analysts, modellers, analysts, engineers, scientists, visualisation experts etc.) in preparation for its launch in 2019.The programme has since grown to 22 grads and 10 experienced staff who partake in the year-long curriculum.I am the lead trainer for the SDDA 'data track' of the SDDA, responsible for the curriculum content and delivery for 20 participants, spanning everything including:* Liaising with the content owners to ensure that our curriculum (consisting of 14 modules, from SQL to descriptive analytics) is current, and documenting and distributing it* Ensuring the execution of the training from room bookings and meeting invites to catering to contracting and working with the top trainers we can find.* The well-being of the 10 staff-cohort.* Having established a training methodology that works i.e. not hours and hours of monologue trainers or death by PowerPoint but rather constant engagement with the participants in fun and original ways to ensure that they stay interested and keen to learn. The feedback and results are consistently excellent.* Organising every aspect of and hosting an annual one-week 'Boot Camp', involving 40 presenters and 23 presentations;* Soliciting, considering and implementing where feasible, regular feedback from participants, i.e. continuous improvement.* Organising fun team-building events as well as facilitating the personal development aspects thereof.* Facilitating various personal development sessions on Leadership, Personal Values, Projection etc.I also run the 'Fall in Love with Presenting' presentation skills as part of the curriculum, and have also run public and corporate versions in South Africa, Australia and online. I am also the trainer for the Data Governance Platforms team at Sanlam, training people in IDQ Analyst and Developer (Data Quality), and EBX (reference data).In my private capacity I see clients who are stuck and wish to gain momentum to get where they want to get to.Based in Cape Town, South Africa, I love teaching, travelling, motorcycling, reading detective novels and my cats.
