I am a diverse music educator with expertise in classroom pedagogy, ensemble instruction and instrumental tuition. My professional performing experience informs my curriculum development, ensuring that my students' learning is always situated in authentic experiences. I have a Masters of Teaching specialising in Leadership and have recently completed the Kodaly Level 1 certificate. As part of my Bachelor of Arts at Monash University, I studied cultural theory have used this to develop a sophisticated understanding of how to create high performance cultures at schools.Student well-being and pastoral care is the cornerstone of my teaching. It is my belief that music education has a formative role in the lives of many students. It is through genuine care for all my students that they are able to flourish as individuals and achieve academic excellence.The diversity of my experience is highlighted through both my teaching and performing experiences. As a teacher I have taught primary and secondary school students in band programs and in the classroom. I have conducted concert bands, stage bands, orchestras and liturgical music. As a performer I have performed at the Melbourne International Jazz Festival, Falls Festival and with ensembles such as the Monash Academy Orchestra, Copperhead Brass Band, and the Low Down Big Band.
