Geology Intern

Memorial Resource Development Corporation (Bought By Range Resources)

Houston, Texas

Memorial Resource Development Corporation was a mid-level oil and gas company based out of Houston, Texas. The companies' assets were mostly unconventional natural gas resources. In May 2016, Range Resources announced that it would be acquiring Memorial Resource Development Corporation. As a Geology Intern for the company, I used Petra to correct well data, set formation tops, pick pay, and generate field specific contour maps for interpretation. Specifically, I defined a prospect sand fairway between two proven fields, generated depth to formation contour maps across large areas, and updated well information for many wells. The bulk of my work focused on East Texas fields producing natural gas from the Cotton Valley Group.

Undergraduate Research Assistant

Center For Petroleum And Geosystems Engineering

Austin, Texas

The Center for Petroleum and Geosystems Engineering (CPGE) is a research unit at the University of Texas that produces premier research and studies in all facets of oil and gas exploration and production. I had the opportunity to take part in this research within The Chemical Enhanced Oil Recovery (EOR) Research Project, headed by Dr. Gary Pope, as an Undergraduate Research Assistant. The research project includes research and development of all chemical EOR methods inducing polymer flooding, surfactant flooding, alkaline-surfactant-polymer flooding, wettability alteration, and mobility control using foam and low salinity water flooding. While working in the lab for a year, I ran core flood studies, analyzed data, and helped produce detailed technical reports. With high pressure lab work involved, strict safety protocol and team work was utilized to maximize efficiency and safety. Specifically, I was a part of a three person undergraduate team that performed six chemical core floods. Furthermore, I was involved in two high pressure shale fracking permeability improvement studies and four foam drive chemical core floods.
