Overseeing & designing of modular build units for multi storey buildings & prototype social housing.

ABM Europe are a Nationwide main Contracting company. The majority of our work for the last few years has been rapid build school projects for the Department of education along with some private developments and works at Terminal 1 of Dublin Airport.ABM Design & Build are one of only a few contractors in the country with the capability to undertake rapid build construction projects built using modern innovative modular construction methods. Off-site manufacturing reduces energy needed for a build project by approx. 65% & reduces carbon emissions & site waste by upto 90%.My role is similar to a Finishing Foreman. I go to projects after practical completion and generate final defects lists in conjunction with clients reps. and arrange for the subcontractors and ourselves to complete said final defects lists so ABM's obligations are completely finalised.

BC Services were a nationwide general contracting company. We undertook projects of all sizes from large new-builds to smaller renovations & remedial works. We contracted for several large main contractors incl. SISK, John-Paul, ABM Europe, Dunwoody & Dobson and P.Elliotts. We also carried out private works for the Skylon Hotel, An Post, HSE & private extensions, renovations etc. I employed 3 full-time men & numerous sub-contractors including electricians, plumbers, painters, tilers etc. depending on the project type. I gained huge experience during these years including tendering, procurement, contract negotiation, project management, AutoCad, business management, site Health & Safety requirements, building regs. including HTM docs. & Doc M building regs. for construction of medical facilities, accounting, final account meetings, project programming, budget control etc. Due to the economic slowdown & bad debts we were forced to close the businessPlease click on some of the projects below to see the type of work we did.

Polypod was an offsite construction company based in Dublin. We manufactured pre-fabricated kitchen & bathroom pods for multi-storey buildings such as hospitals, nursing homes, high rise apartments, hotels etc. I was responsible for Quality Control & Production in a factory of approx. 50 personnel. I also managed some of the site works. I was responsible for all aspects of health & safety. I liaised with clients’ reps. including architects, QS’s, foremen, managers & directors on a daily basis. I did all the production offices’ paperwork including QA documentation, production protocols, progress logs, method statements, daily task sheets, construction programs & delivery documentation. I was responsible for the hiring & firing of factory staff. I was responsible for the safety induction of all new staff & the upkeep of the factory.

My position here was General manager. It was mainly office based but alot of my time was spent on sales & marketing and visiting clients to prepare tenders. I was responsible for correspondence with third parties such as facilities companies, quantity surveyors, city councils etc. I also managed the sub-contract teams. I did all the paperwork such as tenders, quotations, invoices, ISO forms, contracts, completion forms etc. I also priced all the work for the company. I learned a lot in this role about general company management.

During this time I sub-contracted painting projects on new housing & apartment developments.I had between 2 to 9 employees depending on the development & time scale / programme of works.We also did Plumbing, Tiling, Plastering, Flooring & various other Fit-Out works. I gained invaluable experience in management, contracting, dealing with employees & sub-contractors, controlling costs, accounting etc.

I decided to travel to London in 2001 & found a job with TMC construction working on one of the new high rise buildings in Canary Wharf. I did plastering, concreting, tiling & general construction.I also completed a 5 day advanced Tiling course with Able Skills Ltd.I learned alot about general construction here.

Here I was a foreman overseeing the decoration of apartment developments, hotels & housing. I was responsible for between 6 and 10 painters depending on the job. I learned to work to deadlines, organize site schedules, materials ordering, snag lists etc. I had weekly progress meetings with the site manager & liased with all the other trades.

I served my time here as a painter / decorator. Also tiling & plastering. I then spent a few months working for Des Healy in Drogheda doing new housing developments on price work before going to Kriscolour.
