Unitronics is a global company, a designer, developer, producer & marketer of Programmable logic Controllers (PLCs) the computer ‘brains’ that automate mass production lines. The Company’s mission is to make automation simple, efficient, & cost-effective.I am currently leading the software development of Unitronics' new generation of control products UniStream, comprising PLCs, HMI touch panels, and related hardware such as I/O and communication modules. This product required a Real-Time Operating System (RTOS), Embedded Linux, as well as desktop applications for end-users- UniLogic.In the course of this project, my tasks were to:• Spearhead the development of the architecture, design, requirements, and specifications for both the firmware and desktop applications.• Work with the Marketing and Production departments to build both short and long-term development roadmaps• Assemble a team of over 20 developers, including certain tasks accorded to an outsourced onshore team. The team was divided into three sub teams: - RTOS, Linux-embedded, for the PLC controller, I/O and communication modules. - Firmware for the HMI touchpanel, Linux-embedded and Qt for the graphical user interface - UniLogic end-user desktop software, based on .Net, WPF• Employ an Agile-based paradigm to maximize speed, efficiency, and flexibility during development• Maintain ongoing testing with beta installations on and off-shore, and use the feedback to dynamically adapt development when necessary• Additionally maintain a separate team for the on-going software development of the existing products lines, including frequent interactions with distributors and customers.I am proud to say that the first wave of UniStream products, accompanied by UniLogic software, was released and has been deployed according to the company roadmap. Development of the full product line continues.

I directed the software development of Unitronics' Vision series of controllers with textual operating panels: V120/V280/V530, and Advanced Vision, comprising graphical and touch panels: V350/V570/V1040/V1210 OPLC's. In addition to playing a vital role in the system design and architecture, I:• Directed firmware development.• Led the development of the end-user software VisiLogic.• Supervised the development of software utilities: UniOPC, UniDDE Server, Remote Access, DataXport, Remote Operator, Downloader Manager, UniVision Licensing, SD Card Suite & more.• Managed an offshore team in Romania.

During these years, I:• Led the software development of Unitronics M210/M218/M310 OPLC's & P608/P616 PLC's, Firmware and Programming software: UPLC.• Worked with individual clients to build customized control/automation systems, from product definition to turnkey.• Built systems for machine builders, mainly PALLMAC BELGIUM NV/SA & Ridder B.V. (now Lantech Ridder B.V.). Focus on palletizing machines. • Interfaced with customers from across the globe, to augment customer retention and loyalty.
