I offered English language instruction and training to a variety of students, including individuals, groups, and corporate and government clients. Corporate and government client sectors included insurance and finance, information technology, and the Québec provincial and the Canadian federal governments. Teaching responsibilities included reviewing curriculum and planning courses according to student needs and preferences, as well as tracking, monitoring, and evaluating student progress.

I initiated extensive research to design and create a website to highlight Vanderbilt University Medical Center global surgery projects and programs (see link below). In addition, I created and distributed a REDCap survey and synthesized survey findings in a written report while interacting with faculty, staff and an intern colleague. My responsibilities also included composing reports, drafting documents, and accomplishing a variety of other tasks to support Institute projects and programs.

I served as a Research Assistant from May 2014 - September 2014 and from July 2015 - May 2016. As an RA, I conducted web and print-based research to aid faculty research projects and prepare materials for publication. I also collected and organized scholarly sources and data to support faculty scholarship and meet project deadlines. Tasks also included reviewing manuscripts to ensure that all sources were properly cited and formatted in American Sociological Association style. Among the many projects on which I worked, I conducted interview content analysis, analyzing interview transcripts and coding the contents in order to identify salient themes.

I communicated with alumni, parents and friends of the university to raise financial resources, offer updates on campus events and news, foster positive relationships, and thank contributors for recent gifts. This position allowed me to hone my communication and interpersonal skills while contributing to William and Mary’s designation as one of the top public universities in the U.S. for undergraduate alumni financial support.

AidData is a development finance research center at William & Mary affiliated with the Institute for the Theory & Practice of International Relations. While working with the Survey Practice research team, I collaborated with my colleagues to manage and update a sampling frame of more than 40,000 development policymakers and practitioners in 126 countries. I also conducted web-based research to locate and record key project stakeholders and contacts in order to expand survey scope and validity.
