Conducts site safety and health surveys and assessments. Mentor, coach and lead the office staff. Drafts reports of findings and recommendations. Develop policy memorandums and standard operating procedures. Review and provide comments on draft regulations and directives. Inspect specified areas to ensure the presence of life safety equipment and code compliance. Inspect safety equipment and evaluate workplace environments, equipment, and practices. Provide new-employee health and safety orientations, and develop materials for these presentations. Investigate health-related complaints. Perform measurements to ensure the adequacy of ventilation, exhaust equipment, lighting, and other conditions that could affect employee health, comfort, or performance. Recommend measures to help protect workers from potentially hazardous work methods, processes, or materials. Update emergency response plans and procedures. Investigates and analyzes serious personal injury and motor vehicle accidents. Conducts Enterprise wide training for personnel in a number of Safety and Health programs including OSHA 30 & 10 Hour Construction Safety, Defensive Driving, Permit/Non Permit Required Confined Space, First aid/CPR, Forklift and Fall Protection training. Coordinate "right-to-know" programs regarding hazardous chemicals and other substances. Provide technical assistance to the field on safety related issues. Assist with managing the District accident reporting program. Manages the Safety Knowledge Management program. Manages the District Safety and Health Committee. Provide safety and health management during National and local disaster relief operations. Instructs Disaster Management training for safety managers.
