Intern for Distant Focus for Summer & Winter 2014--------------------------------------------------------I assisted in the development of a high-quality camera system for military applications. My main tasks were constructing optical experiments and creating several programs in MATLAB and Python to control measuring equipment.Projects included:• The lens of the camera system consisted of a tapered fiber bundle that was devised by Distant Focus and sent out to be manufactured. I wrote a MATLAB program that used image processing to determine the pitch of a given set of fiber bundles.• The labs contained optical translation and rotation stages for which I developed Python code to autonomously control for data collection.• I constructed a GUI written in Python to enable easier control of movement and image capture for a scanning optical microscope.
