I was an undergraduate teaching assistant for the computer science department of George Mason University from my Sophomore year of college until my senior year. During that time, I helped many students of various levels of skill and motivation to better understand the course material. • Assisted students during lab and personal office hours for the course CS112 – introductory programming. During this time, the students I assisted were often very new, some of which had never coded in their lives and/or found the logic patterns difficult to wrap their heads around.• Assisted students during lectures and personal office hours for the course CS211 – Object Oriented Programming. In this course the students were generally more familiar with coding as a whole, and thus the projects and problems were more complex. Much of my time as a TA for this class was spent analyzing other students code and their specific coding habits so as to identify issues and bugs within that they could not find themselves. • Graded and provided detailed feedback for quizzes and projects in the course CS306 – Law and Ethics, as well as assisted during lecture times. In this course my efforts and responsibilities had a very real and direct effect on the students grades, and thus I would view and review each persons submitted work to make sure that I did not make any mistakes, as well as make sure I graded each person as fairly as possible. Much of the work graded for the projects were partially subjective in nature, so I made double certain to hold each group to the same standards and reasoning as the other.

Spent a month in Madrid Spain working with the ontology engineering group with the university. During this time I wrote code that queried a website for its html, parsed for images, downloaded said images, processed those images for shapes, and outputted the result into a csv file. The purpose for this was to eventually identify whether an image was a graph, and what type of graph it was. This was to be used in determining the best way to teach new students the principles of the semantic web. • Learned the foundation of image classification and recognition.• Used the OpenCV library within Java in order to produce the resulting project. • Learned a lot about the culture of Spain, gaining a passion for travel during my stay.
