Advising the Bankless Academy team on scaling a web3-native, learning experience platform. The Bankless Academy is on a mission to introduce 1 billion people to the exciting possibilities of cryptocurrency, DeFi, and beyond.

At 2U, post-acquisition of edX, I continued to focus on learners regardless of re-orgs and new leadership. A majority of my time on the product team was dedicated to reaching out to educators to understand their challenges supporting learners via edX Studio, LMS, and related tools.As a subject matter expert on the platform, I also provided other product teams with educator insights and historical analysis. We used analytics and interview data to answer questions like, "What can the platform do to increase learner engagement (e.g., returns-to-course) in order to increase their chances of success?"A major gap in the edX platform was identified and we went to work on making learners aware of critically important actions. Work on the first notifications system for the edX LMS began in 2023, and while I'm no longer working at edX, I'm looking forward to seeing the results of this work!

Previously part of the edX Learning Team - I had the privilege to advise learning practitioners on design for learning at scale, high-stakes assessment planning, and iterative improvement. Internally, I was responsible for sharing a learner-centered perspective with product managers, engineers, marketing, and support teams at edX. I managed the edX Community of Practice for learning professionals from the consortium, sharing inspiration and best practices among edX partners.

At edX.org, I enable edX partners to maximize the utility of the Open edX platform to deliver high-quality learning experiences to global learners.

This was one of the most interesting work experiences of my ESL career and I was not allowed to share this publicly, until now. I was responsible for administering and marking the IELTS speaking and writing exams at various official testing centers across China: Guangzhou, Shenzhen, Zhuhai, Changsha, Wuhan, Fuzhou, and Hainan. I was also invited to exams in Boston, MA.Every 2 years I was required to complete a standardization process to keep my examiner status current. Examiners must prove that they can apply the rubric of the IELTS exam within 0.5 point accuracy on a scale of 0-9. This rubric is vetted and reviewed by Cambridge University and co-owned with British Council and IDP Australia.Candidates who attempt the IELTS exam typically use their score in applications to English-speaking universities or apply to immigrate to the UK, Australia, Canada, and other countries. My #1 goal at HighRoads has been to be an advocate for the learner and make a positive difference in the lives of professionals. Luckily, I've been in a position to bring educational value to HighRoads employees and customers on legacy applications, V1 products, and P2A applications. Here are some of the major pillars of my role:* Bring strategies and principles from the fields of instructional design and cognitive science to the HighRoads training organization. Author a training content development profile to set a standard and provide guidance to teammates building training assets.* Implement an LMS platform to support internal and external training delivery needs. Design, build, and maintain training content that is delivered via LMS. Track learner success and revisit training approaches to achieve better results.* Utilize Adobe Captivate and Articulate Studio to build training modules, simulations, how-to videos, and assessments to support learning objectives.* Based on my own storyboarding templates, build training modules for role-based uses of HighRoads solutions. Tailor learning tracks that support different roles and maximize time spent off the job.* Keep on top of trends in the training industry and share valid techniques/theories with the training team. Educate the rest of the company on how we provide added value to our customers.

Huajie Group is a Chinese training company with nearly 30 branches in Mainland China and is listed on the Shenzhen stock exchange. On-the-job training and vocational programs are offered in all major markets of China. Huajie Group publishes its own teaching materials through its own publishing house. Chinese Site: http://www.hjqch-px.comThe Zhuhai branch focuses on consulting and training activities in multinational companies in Zhuhai and in Macau. While managing the branch, I deployed online training to employees needing language training in various aspects: US/UK Accent, IELTS prep, and SBEC. Also, I was responsible for building our business through relationships with the local labor bureau.

The courses I've taught within the School of Translation Studies include Business English I II and III, Advanced Listening & Speaking I and II, International Business Negotiation, English Writing I and II. Additional lectures include S4 English Pronunciation, which my books and online courses are based on. Also, assisted colleagues to leverage online platforms for class discussions, cloud-based presentations, and homework/activities.Beyond assisting professors as an instructional technologist, I also built and developed the EFET Online Academy.
