Ben leads Atkins' Traffic Control Systems team in the UK.As an experienced traffic engineer with extensive knowledge of the design, implementation, operation and maintenance of traffic control systems, Ben uses skills he has developed through hands on experience in traffic signals engineering to develop innovative and affordable solutions to technical problems to achieve the best results for clients. Having started his career at a Local Authority, Ben’s experience includes working both as a client and a consultant on a number of traffic signal and ITS schemes, including junction design, MOVA implementation, UTC/SCOOT validation and UTMC strategy development. Ben has also undertaken the South East Network Manager role for Highways England, overseeing and influencing junction performance in the south east of England.Ben also has experience in the management of Traffic Control System Maintenance and Inspection contracts, including leading on ITT preparation, assessing submissions, contractor supervision and management, negotiation and dispute resolution.An enthusiastic, hard-working and conscientious team player with sound common sense and a practical outlook, Ben enjoys using engineering principals to find innovative solutions to problems. Ben is self-motivated and a proven fast learner and is keen to learn and develop new skills in all aspects of highways and traffic engineering, building on the considerable knowledge already gained in highways engineering and intelligent transport systems.
