As a Operator at Inter Terminals Ltd I have many responsibilities in the day to day running of the plant. * Daily Routines - collecting, recording and maintaining tank temperatures, nitrogen and water tank levels, Steam readings and boiler checks. * Road Loading - External customers come onto site with HGV vehicles requiring many different types of chemicals. These vehicles are either Top Loaded whilst adhering to health and safety regulations or can be loaded from the… Show more As a Operator at Inter Terminals Ltd I have many responsibilities in the day to day running of the plant. * Daily Routines - collecting, recording and maintaining tank temperatures, nitrogen and water tank levels, Steam readings and boiler checks. * Road Loading - External customers come onto site with HGV vehicles requiring many different types of chemicals. These vehicles are either Top Loaded whilst adhering to health and safety regulations or can be loaded from the bottom too. Some customers also bring in products from external sources and I have to safely discharge them into our storage tanks, making sure there is sufficient Ullage inside by checking enraf displays tank side prior to discharging. * Jetty Operations - On a daily basis ships come onto our terminal jetty. As Jetty Operator it is my job to safely load/discharge the ship, making sure that all safety procedures are adhered to and that all rigging of lines and hoses are correct and pressure tested. I would operate our jetty crane in order to pass one end of our hose up to the ship in order to assist me in the safe connection to the ships header. Just like Road loading all ships have to have the correct paperwork processed and an independent surveyor is used to test the product is of the correct specification. Through constant radio contact I would act as a middle man between ship and terminal in overseeing the safe movement of product between ship and storage tank. * Tank Dipping - Wearing the appropriate P.P.E specific to the tank product (using the hazard data sheets), I have to climb to the tank tops and using calibrated equipment I measure and record the total height of the tank, the height of the product and also the temperature of the product in the tank. This information is then transferred onto the computer system and updated for our stocks department. Show less
