A full-stack engineering role but I'm mostly Java backend (and all corresponding pieces) these days.Tech stack: Java web services using Spring framework, PostgreSQL, Elasticsearch, RabbitMQ, Google Cloud Platform (GCP), Bitbucket for source control and continuous integration, Angular. My favorite part: Building reactive Java integrations that connect to smart meters and payment systems of solar mini-grids. Pushing that data into Elasticsearch for big data analytics and verification that solar consumers are getting connected. Seeing how this speeds up the deployment of solar power by instilling confidence for solar power investors. Returned to Rally/CA after an 8-month self-inflicted sabbatical assisting wife with her Fulbright grant in India and spending nearly 2 months working at a refugee camp in Greece (see volunteer section). Proud member of an innovative engineering department that cultivated solid software engineers using proven software practices, evolving technology, and a mature agile process. Started as a software generalist for the flagship product, Rally ALM (now CA Agile Central). Worked on both the front-end (JavaScript) and the back-end (Java). As Rally grew, moved into mostly front-end development. Worked on several web-based Java projects, including the MRM project management application, Timecard application, as well as the the TMP mail-merge application, written using .Net.Project examples included:- Implementing the ExtJS JavaScript framework in order to create a Marketing Calendar.- Enhanced the MRM app to insert/delete/edit configurable fields for projects through an existing administration application.

• Assisted with the content and concept of the a2c Media web site.• Wrote sales proposals for prospective clients. • Initiated the sales of a2c Media’s services to prospective US clients.

As part of the team for the Horizon Emergency Care application (HEC), designed and developed a wide range of new features and tools, along with training other developers and support personnel.• Increased developer productivity by 20-30% by developing a tool that streamlined the check-in process for medical content creators. The tool integrated the content creation environment with ClearCase using web services.• Part of a two-man team that trained 10 offshore contract developers in Bangalore, India, and 5 on-site contractors. Also taught subjects at internal seminars given to HEC support personnel. • Designed and developed a XML validation tool for HEC’s medical content, which is contained in over 5000 XML files that are constantly being modified; incorporated the tool into the CruiseControl build process. • C# .Net development of a new customer interface for the application, using web services to interface with the Java back-end.

Working with my supervisor Gary Crosby, we created a vehicle tracking and maintenance logging system from the ground up for the Queensland State Government of Australia's fleet of state owned vehicles, using web-based J2EE technologies and JBoss as the application and EJB server.

Worked with a team to developed web-based video conferencing solutions using J2EE technologies.
