Benjamin Sabraw is Managing Director of Business Development with SMS Financial, LLC. He is directly responsible for the loan purchase activities of the firm. In this capacity, he leverages 20 years of balance sheet lending, loan sale brokerage, and business development experience, helping financial institutions of all sizes reduce risk while increasing the profitability of their loan portfolios. Senior bankers and other financial managers count him as a trusted and consistent operator in the whole loan arena.Prior to joining SMS Financial, Ben was a Managing Director with DebtX’ Loan Sale Advisory group. In nearly 11 years at DebtX, Ben led the engagement and ultimate disposition of over $1,200,000,000 in whole loan portfolios on behalf of more than 125 distinct banks, credit unions, funds and other financial institutions. Prior to his involvement with DebtX, Ben was a Vice President in the Real Estate Financial Services group at Wachovia Securities, LLC. At Wachovia, he was responsible for sourcing and closing debt instruments for the bank’s largest private real estate clients. Preceding his time at Wachovia, Ben worked at Bank of America in the Home Builder Finance and Commercial/Business Banking groups. Ben graduated from Oregon State University in 2000 with a Bachelor of Science in History. He also received his MBA from the University of San Francisco in 2009. Ben is an Eagle Scout.
