Peter joined Qualcomm Atheros as part of the company's acquisition of u-Nav Microelectronics and continued his technical management role in GPS software development. In his last year at the company (when Qualcomm acquired Atheros Communications) he took the opportunity to transition to a highly technical and hands-on role working on the development of Embedded Linux-based firmware for critical and state-of-the-art Wi-Fi technologies.

Peter joined u-Nav Microelectronics, a GPS semiconductor startup whose products contain a significant software component, at a defining stage to help bring to market a highly competitive and production-quality software offering. In his first year at u-Nav Peter architected the company’s (strategically critical) Hosted GPS solution and developed the code for its core modules. Later he expanded his management and coordinating role and initiated many company-wide best practices that turned the company’s software developers (spread out over US and European locations) into a cohesive team that works well together despite time and cultural differences.

Peter became an AMCC employee in June 2000 after YuniNetworks, a successful early-stage startup he had joined earlier that year shortly after its founding to architect the firmware solution and build the software team, was acquired by AMCC. YuniNetworks, a semiconductor startup company, was founded to create a sophisticated, high-speed communication chipset for massive switching fabrics. Peter architected the required multi-processing software offering as a scalable, loosely-coupled, distributed and fault-tolerant subsystem capable of recovering from multiple failures during non-stop operation. He hired the team, selected 3rd party software components, and developed the code for the critical components while coordinating all aspects of the development and integration with customer systems.

Peter, who joined this successful software startup, at a very early and critical stage, helped define and architect OAEnterprise, a pioneering object-based, distributed control system for complex supply chain and manufacturing applications. At ObjectAutomation Peter first designed and developed the code for the core of the distributed control engine marrying Microsoft Windows desktop and embedded technology with real-time Java before expanding his management role while continuing to be heavily involved in architecture and new product development on a decidedly hands-on basis. In today’s terminology OAEnterprise can be described as a “Local Area Network of Things” (similar in concept to IoT, “Internet of Things”) since it allows all sorts of devices to be connected, modeled and visualized as arbitrary objects containing programmable logic, and exchange data over the network.

Later, Peter used his well-rounded Windows application software design and development skills to help architect and implement Ascent Capture, the first shrink-wrapped information-capture application for document and content management systems.
