Peter has joined five early-stage startups since the early nineties. In all five companies he played the dual role of software architect (helping to define the product, developing the overall software architecture, building prototypes, and do the detailed design and code development for all or parts of the system) and manager (developing the project plans and schedules, hiring the team, directing their activities, and driving towards on-time delivery of the product). In his more recent ventures, Peter, who always has been passionate about software development and keeping up to date with the latest technologies and best practices, has totally submerged himself again in software development on a daily basis.Due to his easy-going personality and multi-cultural background Peter (who grew up in the Netherlands and lived in various European countries before settling in the US) has the natural ability to coordinate activities between teams located all around the world. Peter has substantial hands-on experience working with development teams spread out over the US, Europe, Russia, India, and Taiwan. Peter is an experienced software architect and developer, skilled in both the design and implementation of mobile apps, web apps, Salesforce custom apps, traditional Windows application software, and also complex firmware. Peter is a proven team player and team builder who understands and drives the big picture while able to roll up his sleeves and take a hands-on role in implementing his designs.

Co-Founder, Software Architect And DeveloperCapture Components Dec 2011 - PresentOrange County, California AreaAt Capture Components Peter is part of the team that founded and launched the company. As is common for an early stage-startup, Peter wears many hats including product definition and strategy but his main responsibility is the software architecture and software development of the company’s various document capture products.Capture Components flagship product, ccScan®, scans and imports documents directly to the Cloud, eliminating the time-consuming manual steps of scanning locally, naming documents, creating folders in the Cloud, uploading documents, and finally setting Cloud-based properties afterwards. ccScan does it all in just one step optionally fully automated with barcodes and OCR/RegEx. ccScan works with an ever increasing list of popular Cloud-based systems such as Box, Salesforce.com, SharePoint Office 365, Google Drive and Docs, Dropbox, OneDrive, Windows Azure, Amazon S3, etc. ccScan is used by customers on 5 continents on a daily basis. As the main software developer Peter has become highly proficient with the web services and internals of the wide-range of Cloud systems supported by ccScan. In particular, Peter has gained considerable developer know-how for the Salesforce Force.com platform. ccScan and ccScan Advanced are .Net Windows applications implemented in C#. -
Director Software Engineering / Principal EngineerQualcomm Atheros Dec 2007 - Dec 2011Orange County, California AreaPeter joined Qualcomm Atheros as part of the company's acquisition of u-Nav Microelectronics and continued his technical management role in GPS software development. In his last year at the company (when Qualcomm acquired Atheros Communications) he took the opportunity to transition to a highly technical and hands-on role working on the development of Embedded Linux-based firmware for critical and state-of-the-art Wi-Fi technologies. -
Director Worldwide Software / Software Architect And DeveloperU-Nav Microelectronics Aug 2005 - Dec 2007Orange County, California AreaPeter joined u-Nav Microelectronics, a GPS semiconductor startup whose products contain a significant software component, at a defining stage to help bring to market a highly competitive and production-quality software offering. In his first year at u-Nav Peter architected the company’s (strategically critical) Hosted GPS solution and developed the code for its core modules. Later he expanded his management and coordinating role and initiated many company-wide best practices that turned the company’s software developers (spread out over US and European locations) into a cohesive team that works well together despite time and cultural differences. -
Engineering Manager / Software Architect And DeveloperAmcc 2000 - Jul 2005Greater San Diego AreaPeter became an AMCC employee in June 2000 after YuniNetworks, a successful early-stage startup he had joined earlier that year shortly after its founding to architect the firmware solution and build the software team, was acquired by AMCC. YuniNetworks, a semiconductor startup company, was founded to create a sophisticated, high-speed communication chipset for massive switching fabrics. Peter architected the required multi-processing software offering as a scalable, loosely-coupled, distributed and fault-tolerant subsystem capable of recovering from multiple failures during non-stop operation. He hired the team, selected 3rd party software components, and developed the code for the critical components while coordinating all aspects of the development and integration with customer systems. -
Software Architect / Development LeadObjectautomation 1996 - 2000Orange County, California AreaPeter, who joined this successful software startup, at a very early and critical stage, helped define and architect OAEnterprise, a pioneering object-based, distributed control system for complex supply chain and manufacturing applications. At ObjectAutomation Peter first designed and developed the code for the core of the distributed control engine marrying Microsoft Windows desktop and embedded technology with real-time Java before expanding his management role while continuing to be heavily involved in architecture and new product development on a decidedly hands-on basis. In today’s terminology OAEnterprise can be described as a “Local Area Network of Things” (similar in concept to IoT, “Internet of Things”) since it allows all sorts of devices to be connected, modeled and visualized as arbitrary objects containing programmable logic, and exchange data over the network. -
Software Architect And DeveloperKofax Image Products 1989 - 1996Orange County, California AreaPeter, who joined this startup at a critical stage, was instrumental in helping the company making the transition from a successful hardware to a successful software company. In his early years at Kofax Peter used his considerable know-how in complex, multi-tasking and real-time firmware development to create embedded software solutions for the company’s high-speed scanner and printer hardware accelerator boards. Later, Peter used his well-rounded Windows application software design and development skills to help architect and implement Ascent Capture, the first shrink-wrapped information-capture application for document and content management systems. Today, Ascent Capture is still highly successful and is (and has been for many years) the de-facto standard in Smart Process Apps and document capture software.
