About Ben Shreeve
I work for Bristol Cyber Security Group at the University of Bristol. My research explores how organisations make cyber security decisions. I work closely with various organisations to raise organisational awareness of cyber security decisions. I believe that it is vital that we raise the profile of cyber security at all levels within organisations, and if people can have a fun and insightful experience whilst doing so then all the better. As part of my work I run sessions for organisations all over Europe to help boards of directors and shop floor workers alike gain more of an insight into the inter-related and complex world of cyber security. My latest work centres around cyber security incident response, introducing organisations to the time, resource and political pressures that emerge during a major crisis.
Listed skills include Business Analysis, Process Improvement, Project Management, Management, and 13 others.

Senior Cyber Security Consultant - Crisis Management Specialist
I am delighted to have joined the professional services team at Immersive Lab where I will be working to help organisations improve their cyber security resilience through the use of innovative crisis simulations and training. In particular, I will be using my extensive academic experience around cyber security incident response to help organisations improve their crisis management readiness.
Senior Research Associate
My work focussed on understanding how organisations make cyber security decisions. I worked with a range of high-profile public and private organisations to study how cyber security risks are identified and negotiated, producing top-tier peer-reviewed publications. As part of this, I worked closely with major businesses and organisations to design ground-breaking incident response exercises. Other notable work includes mentoring to help researchers develop analytical and writing skills, as well as collaboration on CyBOK and PETRAS projects
Research Associate
Phd Researcher
Highwire forms part of the RCUK group exploring Digital Innovation. Formed as a collaboration between the School of Computing and Communications, Management School and School of Design at Lancaster University. My PhD research explored whether there are any differences between traditional co-located teams and virtual (global) teams creativity and their sense-making (problem solving) processes. This work has involved the development of a new collaborative team creativity testing suite and a simulation.
Research Associate
Visiting Academic
I was invited to work at The University of Auckland on a series of research projects related to the creativity and problem solving of teams.
Assistant Conductor
During my PhD I sought to further my love of music, and contribute to the University Music Society by taking on a position as conductor. This was a fascinating and challenging experience, learning and developing conducting skills from scratch. Prepping for and taking rehearsals have required time and enabled me to learn a great deal about working with a large team. Getting such a large band together for concerts has been a challenging, demanding but ultimately rewarding endeavour.
Student Conductor
Supplementing my move to learn more about music and conducting I moved to work for the local community music centre. This work involved running weekly rehearsals for a variety of ensembles with a wide range of ages involved. Learning both to conduct and organise rehearsals of both Adults and Children was challenging but provided great insight to teamwork and collaboration.
Business Analyst
I arrived at British Sugar as part of their graduate program in the IT Department before transitioning to act as Business Analyst on the company ERP upgrade project. The graduate program saw me working on a wide range of projects to develop Business Analysis, Project Management and specialist Data Analysis skills. Notable work during my time included the introduction of the Qlikview BIS package into the organisation to assist with financial reconciliation. I not only complete the advanced Qlikview training but worked to develop a number of the BIS applications used throughout the company. I also worked to assist the knowledge management strategy, proposing and implementing the deployment of the Jive knowledge management system. This system deployment was aimed at capturing the casual but specialist knowledge that is often lost during organisational transition. Finally I worked as a Business Analyst for 12 months on an orgasition-wide ERP upgrade project. During this time I worked as part of a dedicated team specialising in identifying financial processes and negotiating system requirements. My time at British Sugar provided some valuable insights into the importance of analysis and project management ultimately informing and influencing my move back to University to learn more through my PhD.
Web Presence Specialist
I Worked with a team of graphic designers and technical experts to plan, develop and release a new website and marketing strategy for the company that exceeded the requirements and resulted in a 300% increase in web hits.
