Industrial Work Placement. Duties Included:Managing and administering the UK E-Procurement system. Including training and development of system users. In Nov 2010 a system upgrade gave me the opportunity to coordinate and train 100 users, across 3 sites, on how to effectively use the system.Using SAP to process purchase orders, create currency hedge requests, update material prices and run vendor analysis reports.Updating and maintaining the UK purchasing intranet page. Updating the supplier approval and evaluation process.Working with suppliers on a daily basis to ensure that Prysmian were receiving best price, best quality and best service for the products which they purchase.Sourcing of ad-hoc requirements ensuring that the best price and best quality product was purchased cost effectively.I was involved in many projects including standardising packaging across 3 sites, benchmarking the stationery supplier and improving the efficiency of the outsourced onsite cleaning. The packaging and stationery projects projected large savings to the business.
Duties included:Training employees on the concept of yields and how to control product usage to ensure cost effective production. Included improved wastage control and meeting lean objectives.Supervising production from butchery to finished product with great emphasis on lean production and quality standards. Operating finished product labelling and sealing machinery. Controlling Inventory and Stock levels. Familiar with working towards 'Just-In-Time' objectives. Working and making decisions in a high pressured working environment.Leading teams on and training employees in a variety of tasks to a competent standard.
Holiday placement and weekend work during 6th form studies. Duties included inventory and stock control, production from Raw Material through to finished product and despatch. Worked with the factory managers to review staffing levels and the layout of production lines, to help the company achieve their lean production objectives.
