Since 2011 The Torch has been providing art, cultural and arts industry support to Indigenous offenders and ex-offenders in Victoria through its Indigenous Arts in Prisons and Community program.The program supports the development of self-esteem, confidence and resilience, through cultural strengthening and artistic expression. The Torch assists artists to reconnect with culture and earn income from art sales (with 100% of the artwork price going directly to the artist), licensing and projects.The Torch fosters new networks, as well as educational and creative industry avenues to pursue for post-release artists. By embracing program participants as artists rather than offenders. The Torch provides an avenue for change.The Torch was previously Chaired by the Hon. The success of First Australians Capital is measured by the success of Indigenous businesses – defined by each business on their own self-determined terms.FAC has been operating a $13 million concept fund since 2021 and has deployed $9.1 million (as at 30 June) across 51 finance facilities. In 2023, FAC will launch a $20 million fund to scale its impact investments.

As Head of Post for the Australian Consulate-General responsibilities included delivering Passport and Consular Services, effectively delivering Australia’s Economic and Diplomacy Agenda, and achieving commercial outcomes in line with Australia’s strategic priorities.Key activities:- Head of the Australian Consulate-General for Louisiana, Arkansas and Oklahoma to support Australia’s diplomatic and economic priorities- Manage a geographically diverse team across multiple time-zones to deliver Passport and Consular Services and Trade and Investment programs and initiatives- Lead Austrade’s Health Sector trade and investment team for North America to attract investments in priority areas including clinical trials, biologics and advanced therapeutics, and support Australian digital health and medical device companies to expand to the US- Actively progress Australia’s Indigenous Diplomatic Agenda through genuine and strategic relationships with Native American and Native Alaskan business and tribal leaders

Prior to the being posted to Houston, Benson undertook training onshore and was part of a multidisciplinary team for the Australian Governments International Freight Assistance Mechanism (IFAM). IFAM supported Australian exporters to continue to access global markets during COVID-19, and provided funding to ensure freight costs were inhibitive for Australian producers.
