Along side my role as Design Director for SJ(SMEC)'s SACA division, I also represent the interests of SAA, a member company of the SJ Group, and coordinate/ manage Urban work pursuits for the region.

Shanghai, China

As of July 2023, in view of the on-going organisational shifts, I was offered the opportunity to be in another different culture and geography - China, while maintaining a view of the SACA markets. I function as the Studio Director for the SAA Shanghai Architecture team, while supporting pursuits for the SJ Group.

Bengaluru, Karnataka, India

After 14 years of practice in Singapore and experiencing the Covid lock-down, I felt a strong urge to experience the markets overseas. That opportunity came with taking up the position as a Design Director for SJ (SMEC) for the South Asia and Central Asia (SACA) Division. I was to help grow and lead a team of talented individuals to pursue and support Urban projects within that region, as well as foster greater cooperation and collaboration with the Singapore teams. It was a great experience for me to build relationships while experiencing different cultures.The multi-brand representation experience I had been exposed to in O&O, certainly helped me get used to the "house of brands", that the SJ Group is. There is a rich diversity of talents across the group globally and specialisation of service focus under the different brands was remarkable.Memorable projects I was glad to be a part of include Jewar International Airport, Noida, India and West Marina Masterplan, Lahore, Pakistan. The experience was eye-opening but the rewards were the lovely people and friends I have made beyond the shores of Singapore.

I was given a very gracious opportunity to take up leadership under SCA Design, O&O Group's brand for Commercial Interiors and represent both Architecture (O&O) and Commercial Interior (SCA) services. I was able to delve into what I felt was a more fast-paced yet fun and creative design.

The decade spent with O&O were formative years shaping character, personal style and approach to issues, building upon the technical foundations laid in A61. I was the Project Lead in most of the projects i was involved in and gradually took on the additional role as QP (Qualified Person) for a number of these projects. As the Project Lead and QP, I led the Design Management process and Contract Administration leading to Project Commissioning. With the onset of some maturity and social skills, I got involved with Project Bids, Client Engagement ie. Business Development, as Studio Director, while building up a core team of talented individuals. Some memorable projects that I was involved with, include Seastrand and Woodhaven Condominiums, Gateway Theatre, SMU Campus Green, Trinity@Adam and St Joseph's Church. I had the pleasure of working with some really talented indivduals and getting to know interesting characters. The joy for me were the relationships built through the process of the projects.

I started my career with A61, and built my foundations as an architect (and consolidating the requisites for registration) working on Marina Bay Financial Center Tower 3 - currently DBS Tower. It was also my first exposure to a true collaborative design process with so many stakeholders, where the client is actually a JV of major developers and refining the design with international Design partners, KPF, ALT, BPI, ARUP, DPG, etc.
