Early on, I was very ambitious and loved setting challenging goals and the process it took to achieve them. For example, inspired by my parents' creativity, I auditioned to be a paid performer at a theatre in Montana. At age 16, I was the youngest performer in the cast, with an average age of 22. I learned to perform on a team at a significant level of maturity under the pressure of over 35,000 audience members that summer, honing my communication. Another challenging goal I set was to finish high school with a 4.0 GPA and an ACT score in the 95th percentile. After taking the test 4 times, 5 full-length practice tests, and paying attention to each detail, I got my desired score, which led to a scholarship covering two years of tuition at Utah State and a second scholarship into the Business School. Since I enjoyed and performed well in past math classes, I wanted a quantitative career and chose finance. From here, I felt like I needed another challenging goal to work towards. Fortunately, in one of my classes, a VP from Piper Sandler came and talked about investment banking. I was immediately impressed with how he presented himself, and I felt I found a career that would allow me to be ambitious. During my time at USU, I have completed 5 different internships. I developed strong time management skills balancing school, extracurricular activities, and internships. These internships required high attention to detail and strong proficiency in Microsoft Excel. At Fund Launch Partners, a GP Stakes Fund, I was on a four-person acquisition team helping to look at emerging funds and ultimately take GP stakes. I loved the added exposure of a lean team and learning through my CIO. I look forward to joining Brown Gibbons and Lang, where I can continue to develop my modeling and PowerPoint skills.
