As a Senior Manager, I oversee the development of the streaming data platform that handles real-time analysis of our omni-channel event stream. This includes transforming our existing monolithic architecture to that of microservices which are loosely coupled via REST APIs or via a message bus. Enforcement of strong API contracts, API versions, and N-2 backwards compatibility is important to retain structural integrity amongst a large topology of services. These services are built and deployed through a CI/CD pipeline to AWS that includes various levels of automated functional and integration tests. Lastly, to support a real-time multi-tenant system in production, tools and metrics must be implemented to allow visibility into the health and behavior of the system so that it can scale in relation to current or anticipated load. All of this is required to support business functions that customers can use to affect the behavior of the system.

Software Development Manager for the SAS Customer Intelligence platform CI360 Execution Engine component. I engage with product management to translate business requirements into technical specifications to be built by developers on my team and across the organization. I collaborate with peer managers and architects to ensure that components integrate well as we build APIs and business logic. I help our project managers ensure that we comply with our Agile methodologies and deliver features/stories within our sprint. I provide my team with a solid vision of our long term goals and then work backwards to define intermediate goals to incrementally improve our software. We need to balance new features with maintenance and stability of our production systems since we have a continuous delivery pipeline for our cloud-based software-as-a-service offering. I work with our test managers and test teams to assess defects. We typically provide short term workarounds to unblock issues first and then work to develop the proper permanent fix. Whenever time permits, I engage with my developers to review code or assist with development of a feature.

Principal software engineer for developing the next generation SAS Customer Intelligence platform CI360 that is built entirely upon Amazon Web Services. Integrated the SAS Event Stream Processing for handling real time analysis of customer browsing and purchasing behavior to subsequently provide targeted content. This is an omni-channel solution that allows for interactions from web, mobile, email, and even social channels. As the lead engineer for the core Execution Engine, I helped design and build an auto-scalable, multi-tenant engine that can pattern match behavioral rules from high volume streams of events from the various channels. Java lead for the SAS deployment platform. SWG Architecture and Technology Cross Brand IntegrationLead developer for building the internal cloud environment to deploy IBM middleware topologies. AIM Accelerated Value Program (AVP) As an AVP leader and specialist, I engage with customers to provide education, best practices, strategies, and escalated support of the IBM products that they’ve purchased. I help orchestrate the interactions between GBS, ISSW, IBM L2/L3 and the customer in resolving mission critical issues within dev, test, or production environments. I further analyze and draft reports to provide performance analysis (GC, http throughput, heap analysis) of production environment and strategies for remediation/prevention of future issues. Business Partner Technical Strategy and Enablement (BPTSE) As a solution architect, I worked with business partners to develop and deploy enablement strategies and architectures with the IBM WebSphere Software for Telecom products and the partner solutions. I developed and delivered partner specific education through formal classes, on-site workshops, and teleconferences. In addition, I provided technical expertise to pre-sales teams through the development and analysis of use cases, responses to RFI/RFPs, and sizing estimates. I wrote and delivered product presentations to both major Telecom companies and business partners. I also authored the whitepaper Network Address Book Implementation Guidelines. Working with both business partners and customers I have led the design and development of prototypes which were successfully deployed in customer trials and proof-of-concepts; and worked with IBM development teams to enhance our products with these capabilities. WebSphere XML Document Management Server (XDMS) As the product architect and team leader for the WebSphere Software for Telecom XDMS product, I managed the entire life cycle of product development. This included analyzing customer requirements; interpreting open mobile standards (OMA & IETF); building a product plan; author the architecture document; orchestrating multiple functional teams (dev, test, perf, IDD); then training the support teams and assisting the account teams on sales opportunities. In addition to managing my product team, I was a key advisor to many of the peer products including the WebSphere Presence Server and IMS Connector. During my tenure, I successfully released v6.1 and kicked off the v7.0 release. I championed the agile development process within my team which was later modeled by others within the organization.
