I joined HCR Hewitsons as a Partner in May 2022.I advise both employees and employers and my particular areas of expertise include: • Advising employees on their rights under all aspects of UK employment law, not limited to advice on unfair or constructive dismissal claims, discrimination and the Equality Act 2010, parental rights and guidance on the Transfer of Employment (Protection of Employment) Regulations 2006 TUPE (as amended in 2014). • Advising employers of their legal obligations towards their employees and all aspects of UK employment law (as above), including practical guidance on disciplinary and grievance issues. This advice is pragmatic and geared towards the commercial realities of running a business. I also work closely with my client’s HR departments, providing regular advice and guidance including the drafting of scripts to follow during meetings with employees and composing the relevant correspondence thereafter. • Advising and negotiating on employee settlement agreements, with experience of advising clients on million pound value agreements. • Drafting and negotiating settlement agreements on behalf of employer clients. • Planning and reviewing large scale redundancy programmes, acting with employer clients to ensure that procedures are carried out fairly and reasonably, with a particular focus on keeping procedural costs to a minimum. • Having sole conduct of employment tribunal claims from submission of the claim or response form to the Tribunal hearing. I regularly undertake my own advocacy, appearing for both employees and employers at both Preliminary and full Tribunal hearings. • Drafting contracts of employment, Director’s service agreements, consultancy agreements and staff handbooks containing bespoke employment policies. I am a member of the Employment Lawyers Association.
