As a reporter I am responsible for collecting, analyzing, and interpreting information pertaining to local news and events. On a daily newscast, I deliver that information as accurately and efficiently as possible.My daily duties as a reporter consist of:- Finding daily, and future stories.- Contacting with the people most knowledgeable on the news story at hand and schedule an interview.- Shooting those interviews and all necessary b-roll.- Writing a complete script, voice over and editing two minute package- Live in field or studio intro and outro.- Rewrite, and edit shorter version for night broadcast.Other duties as a reporter include:- Developing and maintaining relationships with officials, experts, local residents to easier find news stories.- Maintain a social media presence.- Record promotions for newscasts, events, and local advertisements.In addition to a reporter I am a fill in anchor. When anchoring I am also responsible for producing "The Night Report" newscast. That consists of:- Scheduling, and assigning interviews to videographers.- Maintain communication with reporters, videographers, weather and sports departments, as well as technical directors.- Search for breaking news and note worthy events.- Write news stories, and select sound bites from interviews.- Write & Record "Tonight at 10" Teases- Reading three newscasts with a co-anchor, or alone.I also produce the Pocono for one week every five weeks. As a producer my responsibilities are as follows.- Find Newsworthy stories and assign shooters to stories to gather interview and b-roll in the Wayne, Pike, Monroe, and Northampton counties.- Write stories that will be in the broadcast, as well as back up stories.- Maintain open communication with reporters, anchors, technical directors, and editors to ensure the many facets to the show are being considered.- Assign camera positions, shots, and graphic placements.- Plan ahead for future stories.
