Working in Richard Hogg's research group: as well as carrying on my work as part of the "Ultimate Control in Semiconductor Lasers" grant I am able to be more involved with the resonant tunneling diode project with ROHM Semiconductors Ltd (Japan) and a knowledge transfer project with Compound Semiconductor Technologies.Other duties within the group include training PhD students and helping them carry out work for their PhD. I also process material into devices within the Sheffield cleanroom.

During this time working for the NC I was responsible for the running of a Thomas Swan 6x2" CCS metal organic vapour phase epitaxy (MOVPE) reactor. The NC provides collaborative access to epitaxial growth tools mainly for UK academia although I worked with companies in the UK and Japan as well.I would design how to calibrate for a structure and carry this growth out, carry out all maintenance work required on the reactor, characterise my samples using HRXRD, PL, eCV, Normaski and SEM available within the centre and I would also buy in other analytical services such as SIMS and TEM.My research interest were: epitaxial regrowth for advanced devices - DFB, SAS, PCSEL, quantum dots by MOVPE, resonant tunneling diodes for THz generation and semiconductor disk lasers.I am researcher co-investigator on EPSRC grant EP/K023195/1 "Ultimate Control in Semiconductor Lasers".
