I'm a youth worker, a counsellor, a group facilitator and have been designing and facilitating experiential education programs for over 20 years. As an educator, my aha! moment happened whilst studying anthropology in the Himalayas. I realized that exploring unfamiliar cultures and environments could induce a rapid and profound state of personal growth. Experiential learning made concepts come alive. Global issues were suddenly in context. My core values and beliefs seemed clearer. This, I thought, was the future of education! Over the subsequent years I refined my skills as an educator designing a diverse range of leadership initiatives and educational travel programs in Europe, North America and Asia. Eventually it seemed only fitting to launch my own company - and what better place to do it than in the most culturally and ecologically diverse country on earth: Indonesia. Odyssey Institute is currently developing new programming throughout the archipelago and in academic year 2018-2019 will be offering trips in Sumatra, Java, Bali, Lombok, Borneo, Sulawesi, Papua and Komodo.
