Gone are the days of being just product-centric in our messaging, as well as the days of marketing only to IT departments. “Push” marketing campaigns are extinct, replaced by “pull” strategies allowing customers to consume the content wherever they choose. Additionally, companies are no longer the sole authors of content; we now embrace user-generated content. And who could have predicted the amount of data and analytics we could get our hands on back then? In addition to being technical SMEs, product and solution marketers are now strategists, storytellers and data analysts.
