He accomplishes this by working with HR and Finance leadership teams to deploy smart, sustainable benefit solutions that meet individuals where they are at and simplify the journey for where they want to go with respect to their personal health needs and goals.Ben has served in a variety of roles within the Upstate NY health insurance industry since 2005 where he began as a rating analyst responsible for evaluating risk and developing insurance rates at Excellus BlueCross BlueShield for large employer groups. In 2009, Ben was given the opportunity to join a large employee benefits consulting firm, where Ben served as a health plan underwriting consultant. This role involved conducting deep dives into health plan claims and enrollment data, identifying trends and anomalies, and making recommendations to his client's decision makers.Ben returned to the health plan side of the business in 2015 where he served in a financial consulting capacity and then as the manager of commercial group profit and loss, strategy & reporting supporting the Excellus BCBS commercial line of business. In this role, Ben's team was responsible for their Salesforce CRM administration, monitoring and reporting on financial & membership trends, researching, implementing & evaluating strategic initiatives, and tracking progress towards customer satisfaction, membership, & profitability targets.As of April, 2019, Ben accepted a partnership role within the Consiliarium Group, serving as the Strategic Healthcare Practice Leader, where he will be applying his self funding expertise and familiarity with current and emerging employee benefit strategies to the benefit of employer groups looking to maximize their benefit program ROI.
