Ben Wolstenholme’s passion for storytelling has led him to build two creative companies; Moving Brands and Madefire.In 1998 Ben co-founded Moving Brands, a leading global design company. As creative director and CEO Ben pioneered the company’s approach to branding which is built around cross-platform storytelling. In 2009 Ben moved with his family from London to San Francisco to open Moving Brands in the US. Now in it’s twenty sixth year, MB employs a multi-disciplinary team across creative studios in London, New York, Zurich and San Francisco. Ben has creatively led award-winning work for clients including: Apple, BBC, Google, HP, Keane, Netflix, Nokia, Norton & Sons, Paul Smith, LCF, Swisscom, the UN and Virgin.In 2011 Ben co-founded Madefire, a Creator-First Storytelling Company. Madefire built an open publishing platform for creating Motion Books—a new type of digital-first reading experience for phones, tablets, TV & spatial. Madefire was the best-rated reading app in the Apple app store and won the coveted 'Best of App Store' award. Madefire grew to over 40,000 stories on the platform and pioneered digital comics as partner to Oculus (VR), Magic Leap (MR), Ebay and Snap.Ben led content development at Madefire Studios which published 30 original series (including industry legends Liam Sharp, Dave Gibbons & Bill Sienkiewicz). As part of the Madefire slate Ben co-wrote and illustrated his own graphic novel series called MONO which won best digital comic of the year and was rated in Fast Company's Top Ten with MONO Volume One going on to be published by Titan/Penguin Random House. Multiple Madefire Original IPs were developed and optioned for television & animated series. Madefire Studios created characters and stories with Blizzard, Bad Robot, Dark Horse, DC, Disney, IDW, Image, Twentieth Century Fox, Marvel, Nickelodeon and Paramount.Ben has directed TV, film, animation and spatial projects exhibited at SXSW, Sundance and Cinequest and he received a New York Film & TV award for direction. In design Ben has received a Gold Cannes Lion, the highest award in design. As an artist Ben exhibited the Chroma Portrait series at Art Basel Miami.Ben has served on the UK Technology & Strategy Council, the Style Council for Mr Porter, The Alumni Board for the University of the Arts and as Advisor to Deviant Art - the largest Creator Community in the world. Ben is often quoted on topics involving story, design and immersive technology. In 2016 Ben had the unique honour of presenting live on stage at both Apple's WWDC and Microsoft's annual keynote.
