I was proud to serve in the Bureau of International Security and Nonproliferation, office of Export Control Cooperation. As a Program Manager, I managed EXBS (Export Control and Border Security) programs in seven countries in southeastern Europe, managed our regional advisors and locally-employed staff, and guided ECC policy and programming in the region. As Senior Analyst, I advised, proposed, and produced a variety of data-management and analytical tools for the EXBS program as a whole. I was also EXBS' lead for online learning and remote engagements, facilitating diplomatic engagements and building new online training resources. My favorite part of my job is taking on special projects and managing crisis as it comes.

The AAAS Science & Technology Policy Fellowship supports my work as an Operations Research Analyst for the Office of the Secretary of Defense, Cost Assessment & Program Evaluation (OSD-CAPE). There, I led a 6-month study of the disaster response enterprise, including an audit of interagency reimbursement and critical analysis of financial management policies and practices. I also performed computational analysis of DOD concepts of employment. These included modeling logistics and sustainment during wartime and building simulations of new ways to deliver supplies to disaster victims.

After successfully defending my dissertation, I am continuing my research of the GET pathway, finishing the publication process, and opening a new project concerning the influence of cargo on myosin motility.

I studied the structure, stoichiometry, and mechanisms of the Get1/2 membrane protein insertase complex using traditional biochemistry tools and single-molecule fluorescence microscopy. I developed the in vitro reconstitution of the GET pathway in proteoliposomes and nanodiscs for use in mechanistic and structural studies.

I made progress toward the total synthesis of natural products using synthetic organic chemistry.

On behalf of staff scientists, I organized and analyzed field data collected by the undergraduate research team. I also collected field data such as the size, shape, yield, and chloroplast density of genetically engineered corn and soybean plants.

My projects included electrochemical crystal growth, superconductivity, and organic synthesis. I also repaired and refit lab equipment such as glove boxes and vacuum pumps.
