I started Storyleaders in 2008 as an accidental research project. I was struggling...Earlier in my career, my focus was all things process; getting from point A to point B, results, career path, scoreboard. And I was doing OK... until I wasn't.I didn't know it then, but my loyalties had unintended consequences: I wasn't living the life I had imagined. I was getting by, but wasn't fulfilled. I always felt like I was searching. I had shoved aside all the good stuff; creativity, imagination, connections, deep purpose... everything it means to be Human. I stepped away from the work I was doing and began what was really a personal research project; trying to understand what it was that made the people I admired so special; what made them so influential; so rare. From there, it was a domino affect and I dove into fields that were previously off limits for me. Through all this, I've learned so many things that had been hidden from me: that there's a better way to influence the change I imagine, that's there's a better way to find purpose and meaning in my work, and mostly, that connection and belonging are what make us tick. My aim now is to bring these lessons into focus; first, in my own life - to be a better person, and second, to work with leaders to create organizations that are devoted to human connection; where everyone knows that they're making a real difference, that their work matters, and that they're a part of something bigger than themselves.
