1. Being the First Assistant Director's right-hand person2. Preparing and drawing up the 'call sheet' (a document with daily filming logistics, distributed to cast and crew)3. Overseeing the cast, ensuring that the principal Actors are in make-up, in wardrobe, or standing by on the set at the correct times4. On each day of a shoot, Seconds must prepare and draw up the next day's call sheet, (which involves confirming the details of who needs to be on set and at what time, the transport arrangements, extras required etc.). These details must be approved by the production office before the Seconds can distribute the call sheet to the cast and crew.5. Ensuring that everyone knows their 'call time' (the exact time they will have to be on set) is a key responsibility – any delay to filming due to bad time-keeping negatively affects the day's schedule and budget, and is considered unprofessional and inefficient.6. Once the day's filming has begun, Seconds must ensure that all Actors are ready for filming, which means co-ordinating any transport requirements, as well as make-up and wardrobe timetables.7. In some cases, Seconds may also be in charge of finding extras, sometimes in large numbers at short notice, and arranging their transport to, and activities on, the set or location.

1. Maintained the motion picture's internal continuity and recorded the production unit's daily progress2. Facilitated communication between all departments (camera, lighting, sound, wardrobe, make-up) to make sure that continuity errors do not happen3. Took notes for the Director on all the details required to recreate the continuity of a particular scene, location, or action4. Logged information into an Excel database about the action of the take, position of the main actor(s), screen direction of their movement, important actions performed during the shot, and type of lens used5. Created call sheets for the next production day of filming; location scouting/research; transcription; also kept track of daily expenses by day6. On location production assistance to Producers and Director and ran errands as needed
